First cold

We're not sure if it was the travel across the country, the cold, rainy weather on the East Coast or the aggressive kissing of everyone and everything by our daughter last weekend but all of us seem to have come down with some version of a cold. So far no high fevers but a lot of runny noses, coughs, some nasty diapers and all around not feeling good. Unfortunately, CK has a lot to do the next few days so he may be suffering the most. Reese still seems to be eating pretty well and mostly her cheerful self so hopefully her first cold will pass without much misery.

(Almost) Final Cabin Pictures

The cabin in Show Low is nearing completion. From the average Joe's viewpoint it looks done. Although there are still a few days worth of odds and ends to finish before CK can pack up the trailer and head north for the winter (don't birds fly south for the winter for a reason? hmmm....) Here are some pictures of the (almost) finished product.

taking in the best view of all, from the second story deck

Reese was so happy that she could finally crawl around in the cabin now that the carpet is in
this is the "What's Left" list; looks a bit daunting to me

After the wedding I flew to Portland for the week for work and was able to squeeze in a short visit with my roommate from grad school, Stephen, and his wife Becky and two adorable kids, Sophie and Ryan

Jeff and Michelle get hitched!

My baby brother is now married (luckily, to a great sister-in-law, Michelle). The wedding was beautiful and although it all went by way too quickly it was nice to see everyone. Despite some luggage challenges (one of our bags was nabbed by someone else at the airport, then returned conveniently the morning after the wedding, requiring us to do some last minute shopping for a new flower girl dress for Reese) it was a great weekend. Congratulations to Jeff and Michelle!
all dolled up in the limo after the ceremony...my tailor was a miracle worker and somehow got my bridesmaid dress to fit

Our brief trip to Detroit

We stopped in Detroit last Thursday on the way to Jeff's wedding. We were only there for 18 hours or so but managed to grab some great pictures with our friends Dick, Linda, Doug, Grace, Halle, Nolan and Emma. Here's Reese at the Detroit airport playing with her favorite construction cards and looking at the airplanes.

Doug and Grace's youngest is now 8 months old, not yet old enough to crawl nor defend herself from this kind of behavior...
Reese is trying to play nicely...
And she knows that kissing is how you show affection...
But she doesn't know quite how aggressive she can be
This is the take down
And finally, going in for the kiss...sorry Emma! Of course we were all too busy laughing and taking pictures to save her.
Here's Emma with her big sister Halle
Reese happily munching
It was a short but very nice trip. We did drive by our old house in Farmington Hills and for those of you wondering, it was still blue. But with a new shed in the backyard, new deck railing and some pretty major trees taken down.
